FAQ

Straight answers, no fine print.

Twelve questions I hear every week — answered honestly, whether or not it benefits me.

Never. As a licensed independent agent, I’m compensated by the insurance carrier when you enroll — your premium is identical whether you buy through me or directly from the carrier. Consultations, plan comparisons and ongoing support are always free.

Most people first enroll during their 7-month Initial Enrollment Period around their 65th birthday. After that, the Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7 each year, and Medicare Advantage holders get an Open Enrollment from January 1 through March 31. Special Enrollment Periods exist for people leaving employer coverage — call me and we’ll confirm your window in minutes.

Medicare Advantage (Part C) is an all-in-one managed plan — often $0 premiums — with networks, prior authorizations and annual out-of-pocket maximums. A Medicare Supplement rides on top of Original Medicare, costs more monthly, but travels nationwide with almost no surprises. Neither is “better” in general; the right fit depends on your doctors, prescriptions, travel habits and budget.

Always. Before we enroll, I verify your exact doctors are in-network and run your medication list through every plan’s formulary in your zip code — including tiers, coverage stages and pharmacy pricing — so there are no unwelcome surprises at the counter.

It depends on your employer size. If your employer has 20 or more employees, you can usually delay Part B without penalty. Smaller employers may require Medicare to pay first. Getting this wrong can cost you a late-enrollment penalty — schedule a quick call and we’ll map your exact timeline.

That’s the whole point of my concierge promise. Billing errors, claim denials, finding a new doctor, moving to another state, or reviewing coverage each fall — my team and I stay with you year after year, at no charge.

Supplements travel nationwide, but Medicare Advantage and Part D plans are local — both typically need to be changed when you move. Tell me before the move and I’ll line up seamless effective dates.

Usually — if your doctor accepts Medicare, Original Medicare and Supplements cover them anywhere. For Advantage plans I verify them in-network before you enroll. That check is non-negotiable in my process.

The insurance carrier pays me a commission when you enroll — your premium is identical either way. No fees, no markup, no catch. It also means I have every incentive to keep you happy for decades, not just one sale.

Absolutely — a second set of licensed eyes is free. I’ll compare what you have against the full market and tell you honestly if staying put is the smarter move. Sometimes it is.

Original Medicare doesn’t cover routine dental, vision, or hearing — but many Advantage plans include them, standalone plans exist, and some Supplements pair with discount programs. We’ll build the combination that fits.
